Meet the Team: Meg

Hello! I’m a new(ish) addition to the Darn Yarn team and I thought I should take a moment to introduce myself properly. My name is Meg Goodmanson, and you’ve probably seen my name on previous Darn Yarn blog posts. I also help out with social media.

I’m Allen’s big sister. When I was four and he was an infant, my imaginary friend, Sally Whips, pinched his nose and made him scream. For some unintelligible reason, I got in trouble. I still don’t understand it.

I learned to knit when I was in elementary school, producing very knobbly garter stitch scarves which I’m thrilled to say were never photographed. I haven’t knit a thing since 2009 when my  son was a baby, but I keep meaning to start again

In about 2010, I taught myself how to crochet, specifically amigurumi animals, which I love. I found crocheting worked well for life with small, grabby children because the hook is less stabby than knitting needles and I found it easier to keep track of my place when I was interrupted (over and over and over again).

Now my kids are older and (thankfully) less grabby, and boy howdy, all this time around yarn is making me want to knit again! I don’t think I can hold out much longer, to be honest…have you SEEN the yarn in this store? It’s amazing!

When I’m not writing stunningly fascinating works of bloggy goodness for Darn Yarn, I work from home as a virtual assistant/editor. If you ever need something proofread, data organized, or an inbox sorted, I’m your girl. I also have a side gig as a cartoon portrait artist (I drew Allen and Kelly for the website).

 I’ll be hopping in and out of social media comments from time to time, so if you see the name Meg around, that’d be me. I love what Allen and Kelly are building here at Darn Yarn and I’m so happy to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all!
